Stabilised Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle Wood

Introducing our Tasmania Tiger Myrtle burl stabilised wood. Crafted with the discerning knife maker in mind, this exquisite piece of Nothofagus Cunninghamii has mesmerizing patterns, ensuring each handle crafted with it is a work of art.

Measuring at 145mm x 76mm x 32mm, this Australian Stabilised wood block is the perfect canvas for creating both bigger handles as well as smaller, more intricate designs.

This wood was ethically collected and cured to a humidity level of >10%. It then undergoes a rigorous stabilisation process, where it is immersed and placed under vacuum in Cactus Juice resin for a minimum of 8 weeks. Following immersion, the block is pressurized at approximately 60 PSI for 3 days, ensuring optimal penetration and stabilization. Finally, it is cured to a hardness of Shore D 80-85 at 100c for 2 hours before being meticulously sanded and polished.
